The Theatre Department is dedicated to encouraging creativity and building self-esteem. We believe this can best be accomplished by providing a focused and amiable atmosphere that provides a safe environment for self-expression. Both the theatre classes and productions have these goals at the center of their mission.
The classes offered are Introduction to Theatre, Acting and Advanced Performance. Introduction to Theatre is a survey course that covers play productions, theatre history, dramatic structure and styles, lights, sets, costumes, and make-up. It is open to freshman and sophomores. Acting and Advanced Performance deal with the process of character analysis and scene building. Acting is open to sophomore and juniors. Advanced Performance is open to juniors and seniors.
The Bishop Miege play productions have a history of excellence. It offers students an opportunity to a part of a community that relies on group identity and cooperation. We provide a positive atmosphere that insures the students have a quality experience and build productions of which they can be proud. There is a Fall Musical, a Winter Play and Spring One-Acts, which are directed by seniors.
We cordially invite you to join us in either shining the light or stepping into it!
